RC Helicopters
The very first helicopter concept ever put to paper was done by Leonardo Da Vinci. In 1907, Paul Cornu invented the first piloted helicopter but the initial design had flaws and did not work. It wasn’t until 1924 when Etienne Oechmichen built and actually flew the world’s first working helicopter. Even though it only went a distance of a little over a mile, it was the beginning of a new age of airship design.
Although Igor Sikorsky did not invent the helicopter, he is considered to be the father of the helicopter because he did design the first real successful model that future helicopters were based off of.
An RC helicopter is in fact a scaled down model of a real helicopter. All the controls and aerodynamics that keep modern day Apaches aloft, also apply to their scaled down counter parts.
The most popular type of RC Helicopters among the RC enthusiast crowd, are the models that use fuel to fly. While there are some great electric models to choose from, a gas powered helicopter is the way to fly. Depending on your budget, you can expect to spend between 100 to 500 and more on a good RC helicopter.
We’ve put this site together to help you find either a used helicopter from an online auction or are great deal on a new model from one of the vendors listed on our site.

Compare the prices and make sure the one you choose is the one for you, then get ready to have a great time while you’re flying it.
Always read the manual before you start out and make sure you understand the controls. Don’t go taking off and trying to fly all over the place until you have mastered the controls, otherwise you’re going to end up crashing and possibly destroying your helicopter in the process.
Today’s RC Helicopters can fly at great speeds and further distances, so be ready to feel like a pilot and if you’re really creative, you could even mount a small camera on it to relay back to a video monitor so you can make your flight as realistic as possible.
Thanks for visiting and now get out there and have some fun!
